Vagabond Crew

Founded in 2000 by Mohamed Berlabi, Vagabond Crew are current world champions of the two most prestigious bboy events - Battle of the Year and the UK Bboy Championships, having previously been winners of Battle of the Year in 2006 and UK Bboy Championships in 2010.

Vagabond Crew members come from a wide range of social, ethnical and geographical backgrounds reflecting the true multicultre of French identity. Dancers are chosen for their skill and personality with emphasis on their understanding of and respect for positive and constructive values. Conscious of an age marked by cultural and social turmoil, Mohamed Berlabi pays great attention to the exemplary behaviour needed for a Hip Hop dance crew followed worldwide by millions of people, young and old alike.

Following Chienne de Vie - a powerful work on the theme of exclusion, and Mozart - a duet about the tumultuous relationship between Saliéri and the young prodigy - Mohamed Belarbi now turns his attention to interpreting this dilemma faced by all of us. Taking inspiration from the frightening visual universe in H.R Giger's movie “Alien” this is a spectacular and powerful piece of hip hop dance theatre.

Death is a certainty that unites us all. From birth, each of us has to live this "Alien" concept. Through our attempts to comprehend our mortality, we are faced with the fundamental questions asking the meaning of life, the universe and everything. For some, the search for this meaning can give birth to a faith in God, nature, science and humanity.

Rather than being fearful of the aliens within ourselves, we are asked to take hold of our fears and anxieties that plague our imaginations.
